th at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Dundas, Ontario. Gates open at 11AM and show starts at 1PM.
Lanois, who grew up in Hamilton said, “I’m going public for my love of Ontario tomatoes in August. I grew up with so many wonderful local foods. Let’s celebrate our local food growing heroes and congregate at Christie Lake, one of Ontario’s best hidden secrets. Lanois continued, “For a day of fine food and music, I am pleased to announce that my long-time friend Gord Downie will be performing. Ray Lamontagne and Emmylou Harris have also kindly agreed to travel north of the border to participate in our first-ever harvest celebration. Let’s make it a success and an event that we should definitely revisit annually.”
Lanois’ most recent work includes his latest album,
Black Duband the production of Neil Young’s Grammy and Juno award winning album
LeNoise. Lanois’ production career began with the founding of local and legendary Grant Avenue Studio and gained industry accolades through his work with ambient innovator Brian Eno and U2. Emmylou Harris, one of country music’s most prolific songwriters, released her latest album
Hard Bargain this week. Downie, front man and lyricist of Canada’s best known rock band, The Tragically Hip, is touring with The Country of Miracles, an esteemed group of musicians that consists of Julie Dorion, Josh Finlayson and indie band, The Dinner is Ruined. Ray Lamontagne, whose latest album,
God Willin’ and the Creek Don’t Riseearned him three 2010 Grammy Award nominations for which he won Best Contemporary Folk Album. Serena Pryne and the Mandevilles hail from Welland Ontario. Pryne and Lanois have collaborated in both live performance and in the studio. Pryne’s debut solo release,
Goodnight Golden Sun is due for release this summer. Los Angeles based, blues and rock musician, Rocco DeLuca, has also worked with Lanois in the studio. Lanois stated, “I fully believe in DeLuca. I think that he’s got the power to be a contemporary troubadour”.
Christie Lake is a natural paradise, boasting 830 acres of hiking trails, picnic areas, fishing ponds and beaches. The Harvest Picnic is designed to raise awareness about the importance of the region’s local conservation lands, the arts, local agriculture and home gardening. Concert goers will also be able to enjoy a local farmers market, horticultural workshops, art vendors, food and beverage areas, fishing, swimming and good old fashioned picnicking.

ArtistsDaniel Lanois
Earning an accolade from Rolling Stone Magazine as “the most important record producer to emerge in the ‘80s,” Lanois along with Brian Eno broke ground in the music industry by collaborating on a number of landmark ambient releases, which transformed perception of space, music and performance. From here, Lanois began to forge relationships with some of the world’s most renowned artists, offering them a fresh perspective on their sound. Through his production work with U2 on their seminal projects, Lanois took the techniques he developed with Eno and went on to produce career defining albums for Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, and Emmylou Harris. Lanois describes his production work as follows: “Some people call it atmosphere, some people call it a hook or a groove, essentially what I’m looking for is that part of the song that sets it apart, gives it its identity. Take Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” you understand what that song is before he even begins to sing. That’s what I’m looking for. That’s magic.”
As a producer, Lanois, the recipient of seven Grammy awards and five Juno awards, has been at the heart of some of the past century’s masterworks including U2’s

Lanois understands the delicate balance between the songwriter and the producer, skills he jokingly says he picked up attending “the University of Bob Dylan.”
“No one else can write a Daniel Lanois song, the same way no one else can write a Bob Dylan song,” says Lanois. “As a producer you help an artist build the framework for their tracks and help them find sparks of magic. As a songwriter and solo artist, you are serving your own personal life experiences.” Lanois has shared his life experiences through a beautiful and moving collection of solo albums beginning with his acclaimed 1989 debut,
Acadie, through 1993’s
Beauty of Wynona, 2003’s
Shine, and 2005’s releases:

Belladonna. "For every song of mine that gets released there is an abundance of material that does not,” says Lanois.

Singer/songwriter, poetic improviser, occasional actor. Gordon Downie has fronted Canada’s iconic The Tragically Hip since 1983, and has released three solo albums. 2001 saw the release of
Coke Machine Glow- recorded with Skydiggers’ Josh Finlayson, ex-Odds bass player Steven Drake, Barenaked Ladies' Kevin Hearn, band mate Paul Langlois, and Don Kerr of Rheostatics - and was sold with an accompanying book of poetry.
Battle of the Nudeswas released in 2003, and
The Grand Bouncein 2010. In December of 2010, the dance work “Beside Each Other” took stage at Toronto’s Yonge Centre of the Arts, inspired and performed by music from

With over 40 albums released thus far, 12-time Grammy Award winner Emmylou Harris’ career began in the legendary Greenwich Village, gained momentum by pairing with influential Gram Parsons, and in 1992 Harris was honoured with an induction into the Grand Ole Opry. She has since collaborated with the likes of Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill to name but a few. 1995 saw the release of
Wrecking Ball, and garnered new legions of fans with its alternative stylings. The project, which was produced by Daniel Lanois, won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Harris’ Grammy in 2000 for
Red Dirt Girlcapitalized on her songwriting; she also appears on the overwhelmingly successful
O Brother, Where Art Thou?soundtrack, which won a Grammy for Album of the Year, in all genres, as well as the CMA's Album of the Year. Harris’ latest release,
Hard Bargain, comprises 11 new songs by Harris plus covers of songs by Ron Sexsmith and producer Jay Joyce; two songs look back at relationships that were central to Harris' creative life—with Kate McGarrigle and Gram Parsons. In the last decade, she has gained admiration as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing. Harris has also been a vocal opponent to landmines, organizing concerts with well-known singer-songwriters to raise awareness of the issue.

Since leaving his job in a Maine shoe factory to pursue his calling as a musician, Ray Lamontagne has released three studio albums and two live EPs, won awards and topped critics’ polls internationally and has established himself as one of the most distinctive talents of his generation. His songs have been featured in numerous films and television shows, including multiple performances of his compositions on
American Idol. Lamontagne’s fourth album,
God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise, marks the first time that Lamontagne has taken on the role of producer. The album is the follow-up to 2008’s
Gossip in the Grain, which debuted in the Top Five on the
Billboardcharts; garnered three 2010 Grammy album nominations winning the Best Contemporary Folk Album category;earned Lamontagne a coveted slot performing on
Saturday Night Live; and continued the expansion of a highly-respected career that began with his first album,
Trouble, in 2004.

Rocco DeLuca grew up on the R&B touring circuit - the son of a single father who was one of Bo Diddley's backing guitarists - and picked up the guitar at a young age. After several years continuing the vagabond lifestyle of his childhood, Deluca settled back in Los Angeles and started a weekly residency at the Gypsy Lounge, a well-known blues and country bar in Orange County. While opening for bluesmen like Taj Mahal, Deluca caught the attention of an A&R representative for Ironworks Records, a new independent label started by '80s pop singer Jude Cole and actor Kiefer Sutherland. In 2004, he became the label's first signing. During sessions for Deluca's first album, produced by Cole, the pair put together a full-time backing band for Deluca's vocals and Dobro, consisting of bassist Dave Beste, percussionist Gary Velasquez, and drummer Ryan Carman. That debut album,
I Trust You to Kill Me, was released in March 2006, coinciding with a DVD documentary by the same title that featured Sutherland shepherding Rocco Deluca & the Burden on their first international press tour. With the latest release,
Mercy, produced by Daniel Lanois, Rocco Deluca plays a decidedly modern take on traditional blues-rock.

Serena Pryne and the Mandevilles have sprung onto the music scene with their distinctive Americana flair. Singer Pryne carries her band with sultry and impactful vocals coupled with her rousing onstage presence. Pryne also writes her own songs along with Mandevilles principal guitarist Nick Lesyk.
Pryne and Lesyk began their musical partnership formerly with their band Oliver Black, who were signed to TVT Records. Oliver Black toured and played with artists such as Grady, The Trews, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Three Days Grace and Sam Roberts. Serena and the band have worked with friend and producer Daniel Lanois in many different capacities including studio recordings and live performances including select dates with Lanois’. The band has also worked on projects with producers Garth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Hedley) and Michael Beinhorn (Soundgarden, Hole). Pryne and the band teamed up with songwriter/producer David Thomson (Sony/ATV) and Michael Barbiero (Guns'n'Roses, Gov't Mule) to work on their first self-titled EP (April 2010). Serena Pryne and the Mandevilles' own fusion of rock, blues and country is capturing listeners everywhere. Pryne’s debut solo release is due out this summer.

About Christie Lake:The concept of the Christie Reservoir was born in 1958 when the newly-formed Spencer Creek Conservation Authority was searching for solutions to the flooding issues along the Spencer Creek, especially in Dundas. Land purchases began in 1962 and after years of study and approvals, construction of the Christie Dam began in May of 1970. The Christie Dam serves not only to virtually eliminate downstream flooding; it also creates the recreational lake we know today maintaining a habitat for a wide range of wildlife. Christie Lake Conservation Area officially opened in June of 1974.
Today, Christie Lake is one of the most beautiful lake settings on the Niagara Escarpment. Within its 336 hectares (830 acres) are 10 kilometres of trails, a wildlife management area, wide open spaces, tall grass prairie meadows, forests and a 360 metre sand beach. Visitors may enjoy all the great outdoors has to offer with canoeing, fishing, swimming, picnicking, hiking, and even cross-country skiing when conditions permit.
