SHAKURA S'AIDA SET FOR HER FIRST EUROPEAN TOUR

A chance meeting in Memphis leads Toronto singer to perform with Ruf Records' popular Blues Caravan 2008

Toronto-based Shakura S'Aida, who recently won second place at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, returned home with a new number one fan - Thomas Ruf, the founder and president of the German blues label, Ruf Records. Ruf was one of the judges at the Memphis event and was "blown away" by her performance. He invited her to take part in eight Blues Caravan 2008 dates across Europe later this month and in early May.

S'Aida is replacing Candye Kane, an American singer who has been sidelined by illness. S'Aida will tour with Virginia-based singer and guitarist Deborah Coleman and Dani Wilde, a young British singer who has built a strong following with her debut CD on the label.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in half a dozen US cities and in Switzerland, this is the first European tour for the multi-lingual S'Aida, who has been based in Toronto for some 20 years. Her debut recording, Blueprint, has gained her a large following and considerable airplay across North America and Europe.
