MARIE-JOSEE HOULE & MEREDITH GRANT @ RASPUTIN'S - JULY 4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Marie-Josée Houle and Meredith Grant play Rasputin's Folk Café on Fri., July 4

Some would argue that the accordion is the most grating instrument in the world. Marie-Josée Houle wouldn't argue with that, and it's her main instrument. When she released her solo debut, Our Lady of Broken Souls, in March of 2007, however, Earshot gave her credit, along with other fine Canadian accordion acts Geoff Berner and Wendy McNeill, for making the
squeeze-box cool again...

Marie-Josée met another lovely accordion lass, Meredith Grant, from Guelph, Ontario, when they were both approached by short film director Nathan Anderson, who wanted to use their music for his film, "My Lucy Charm".

On Friday, July 4, 2008 - on the eve of leaving for another cross-Canada tour - Ottawa's Marie-Josée Houle will play hostess to Meredith Grant, as both ladies will present their own flavour of accordion music at Rasputin's Folk Café (Bronson Avenue, near Carling).

Meredith writes moody instrumental music. She will be accompanied by Louisa Kratka on violin.

Audiences can expect more bilingual French Café and Gypsy Jazz, as Marie-Josée will be backed by Nathanael Larochette on semi-acoustic and Arthur Holoien on double bass. She will also be presenting some of her newer material, which will be released on her upcoming album, Monsters (October 1, 2008).
