Duo Exaudi

Guitar Hamilton is pleased to present Duo Exaudi featuring
Rene Izquierdo (Cuba) and Elina Chekan (Belarus).
The two guitarists are internationally acclaimed as solo artists and have come together
to form one of the guitar world's most exciting new duos.

Rene Izquierdo has toured throughout Cuba, Europe and North America as a
soloist and chamber musician.  He is the recipient of numerous awards including the
prestigious Joanne Falletta Competition prize.  Of his playing, Classical Guitar
Magazine wrote "His natural and instinctive interpretations are second to none:
his virtuoso technique allows him absolute command of the instrument giving him
the independence of subtle phrasing, dazzling speed, beautiful tonal control, everything."
Izquierdo is currently on faculty at the University of Milwaukee.

Elina Checkan performs regularly throughout the United States and abroad.
In addition to being a sought-after performer, she is known as a conductor and arranger.
Legendary composer Jorge Morel dedicated his piece "Campanas" to her.

The February 3rd program will feature a variety of stunning works for two guitars
that will showcase this duos technical mastery of the instrument and their sublime
interpretations.  The program includes works by Castelnuevo-Tedesco,
Debussy, Scarlatti, Bach, Brahms and Sor.
