DANIEL LANOIS' NEW ALBUM, HERE IS WHAT IS, TO BE RELEASED DIGITALLY EXCLUSIVELY AT REDFLOORRECORDS.COM ON DECEMBER 15

Here Is What Is Marks The First CD Quality Digital Download Album Release

LOS ANGELES, DECEMBER 3, 2007

Acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer Daniel Lanois, known for producing some of the greatest albums in the last two decades, will release his sixth solo album, Here Is What Is, as a digital download exclusively at redfloorrecords.com. Pre-orders for Here is What Is are available now and will be delivered digitally on December 15. Here is What Is marks the first digital download release in high resolution CD quality WAV format. It will be available for $9.99, the same price as MP3 resolution. The CD will also be made available at traditional retail outlets via Redeye Distribution on March 18.

Here Is What Is was recorded in Toronto, Los Angeles and Shreveport, LA, with drummer Brian Blade and pianist Garth Hudson and features a collection of viscerally powerful and beautiful new tracks. From the inquisitive “Where Will I Be” to the emotive sounds of “Lovechild”, Here Is What Is is a sonic journey that captures Lanois’ signature musical sensibilities and virtuosity. The album also includes philosophical interludes and inspiring conversations with Brian Eno taken from the film by the same name.

The film "Here Is What Is", which debuted at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival, will be available separately on DVD March 18. In Lanois’ words, “The film is a camera following me around over the course of a year, in and out of recording studios, documenting once and for all the way it really happens.” Directed by Adam Vollick, Adam Samuels, and Lanois, "Here Is What Is" captures the art of making a record and showcases one of the most distinctive and celebrated producers of our time.

Lanois began his career with an early '80s apprenticeship with Brian Eno, making some of the most influential avant-garde music of all time. After producing artists such as Bob Dylan (Time Out of Mind), Peter Gabriel (So) and U2, including The Joshua Tree, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, Lanois released his third solo album, Shine, which reveals a remarkable range of sounds, emotions and approaches to music making. The album followed his hotly anticipated 1989 solo debut, Acadie, and the 1993 release For The Beauty of Wynona. Lanois’ entire catalogue of solo work is available at redfloorrecords.com.
