RANDY OXFORD BAND - INTERNATIONAL BLUES NEWS !!

The word came out of Memphis,TN, today that the Randy Oxford Band's current CD, Memphis to Motown, has made it through yet another round of judging and is now in the finals of the 2008 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in the category of "best self produced CD", representing the South Sound Blues Association (SSBA), based in Tacoma, WA. The finals will be held on February 2nd, 2008, at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis, TN.

Only 5 final CDs made it through two intense rounds of judging by international Blues industry professionals. Submitted CDs from around the world were first judged in competitions on a local and regional level by each individual Blues organization before being submitted to the IBC. Once the IBC received the CDs, they were then put through 2 more rounds of judging before the "last 5 spinning" were sent to the 2008 IBC finals.

On a personal note, band leader Randy Oxford knew he might have something very special when Elvin Bishop came up to him on the recent Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (LRBC) to the Mexican Riviera and said..."Hey, Randy, thanks for recording my song (I'll be glad)...I love your arrangement of it"...."me and the boys in the band are really digging the sound of your band on the CD"...Regardless of what happens on February 2nd 2008 at the IBC finals, at the Orpheum theater in Memphis,TN, the Randy Oxford Band is proud and honored to be named as 2008 IBC finalist in the category of "best self produced CD" for their Memphis to Motown CD.

We would also like to acknowledge the recent recordings of two other SSBA bands who submitted their CDs to the SSBA for consideration in the 2008 IBC - the Michal-Miller Band and Becki Sue and her Big Rockin' Daddies!. Both bands have recently released truly world class recordings and they also deserve the same kind of international recognition.

The Blues is alive and well in the Pacific Northwest right now and we're glad to be a part of "the ride" while it lasts. Randy predicts that......"The Blues will be "great in 2008".
