BRING ON THE BLUES WITH ROMI MAYES AT HAVEN SOCIAL CLUB

Friday the 13th is shaping up to be the hottest night in March on the Edmonton blues calendar. Canadian hellcat Romi Mayes brings her unique mix of bourbon infused country, blues, and bluegrass to the intimate confines of the Haven Social Club, the city’s newest live music venue.

Romi’s performance at the 2008 Edmonton Folk Festival introduced her rough edges to city blues buffs. Her two Western Canadian Music awards - songwriter and album of the year for her 2006 debut, Sweet Somethin Steady - gives you a hint of what to expect on the dirty-yet-polished sounds of her latest CD, Achin in Yer Bones.

For this project, Romi again worked with renowned producer Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Mary Gauthier) and together, they have created a masterpiece to thrill music lovers and musicians alike. Warming up the crowd is Edmonton’s award-winning folk treasure, Chloe Albert. Named "Emerging Artist of the Year" by the Canadian Folk Music Awards, Chloe’s rootsy style will capture your eyes, ears, and soul.
