Epilepsy Ottawa-Carleton - Public Meeting
Topic: "Comprehensive Care in Epilepsy"
Featured Speaker: Dr. Alan Gruberman, MD, Neurologist
Bronson Centre, Ottawa
May 7/07 - 7 p.m.
Epilepsy Ottawa-Carleton depends on fundraising to raise public awareness and provide programs and services to our members and the general public. These include monthly information sessions, support group meetings and a resource library.
A particularly important service that we provide is the “Seizure Smart” presentation, which is made to schools, workplaces and other organizations to raise awareness of how seizure disorders manifest themselves and how they can and should be managed.
Current activities which raise funds are our annual raffle, participation in the LCBO donation box program and special events such as ‘Scissors for Seizures”, which was held in March.
A number of individual events provide welcome contributions such as the "Lemonade Stand" and we are always happy to consider new ones.
Of course no fundraising can be achieved without tremendous volunteer support and effort. Opportunities exist for people with a variety of skills and experience. Some are ongoing and some are specifically event-related.
Please see the “Volunteer” page and complete the form to let us know how you would like to help. You can also contribute by purchasing and/or using the “lavender” items. The lavender flower traditionally represents isolation and solitude, too often experienced by people with seizures.
Our ‘lavender” items include a bracelet, a key chain, and lavender ribbons. Click here to email us if you are interested in purchasing or helping to sell any of these items or call the office 613-594-9255 (office hours).
Lavender Bracelet - $3.00 each
Lavender Key Chain - $3.00 each
Lavender Ribbon - free
