Shel Silverstein was one of those rare "multi-threat" artists - composer, singer, cartoonist, illustrator, author - Shel wrote over 1000 songs including Boy Named Sue, The Unicorn, Sylvia’s Mother, The Cover Of The Rolling Stone, One’s On The Way, Put Another Log On The Fire, A Couple More Years, Tequila Sheila and The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan.
He was an award winning children’s author who penned The Giving Tree, Light In The Attic, The Missing Piece, Falling Up, Uncle Shelby’s ABC Book and Where The Sidewalk Ends. He won a Grammy for best children’s album in 1984 for “Where The Sidewalk Ends.
He was cartoonist for Playboy Magazine and his drawings appeared in every issue of Playboy from 1957 to the late ‘70s.
