The Gladstone Theatre kicks off the beginning of Ottawa's 2009-2010 theatre season this fall with the comedy classic Noises Off starting September 3 until October 10, 2009. Noises Off follows the cast and crew of a British sex farce called Nothing On. Tensions mount as relationships among the cast and crew sour until there's more drama brewing backstage than on. Can they keep it together to finish the show or will their efforts cause everything to spiral out of control? Penned by British playwright Michael Frayn, Noises Off is often described as "the funniest play ever written."

The Canadian Museum of Nature will close its public exhibitions site, the Victoria Memorial Museum Building, at 240 McLeod Street for four weeks from October 5 to 30, 2009. The closure is required to complete a necessary step in the historic building's renewal, namely testing of the life support and safety systems (e.g. fire alarms, sprinklers, electrical) in the areas under construction, and linking of these systems to those in the currently occupied areas. On October 31, the museum will reopen with its popular galleries in the West Wing (Fossil, Mammal and Bird Galleries). Following the October closure, staff will begin installation of new galleries in preparation for the grand reopening of the entire downtown site on May 22, 2010, International Biodiversity Day. From chicken experts and authors to a rescued landfill hen or an inexperienced family that decides to take the poultry plunge—and even a mad scientist and giant hen taking to the streets—it’s a humorous and heartfelt trip through the world of backyard chickendom. Film is 80 minutes long. A policy dialogue will follow the film screening. We will be seeking comments, thoughts, and ideas about raising livestock (including chickens) in urban Ottawa. The dialogue will be incorporated into a Just Food project called Food Secure Ottawa. Food Secure Ottawa is a 2 year project that will be making municipal policy recommendations aimed at improving people’s access to foods in Ottawa. We look forward to hearing from you! The Funky Mamas are a group of five women who, about a decade ago, came together, through the love of music and community, at a play group with some of their 15 children. Kit Rae is one of the foremost fantasy/collectible weapon designers in the industry with a worldwide following for his unique fantasy weapons.
He was the lead designer for United Cutlery for over fifteen years, responsible for design of the Legends in Steel, Samurai 3000, Steel Apocalypse, Blades of Atlantis, Volkoth, and the Swords of the Ancients collections.
His knives and swords have appeared in blockbuster television shows such as the "The X-Files", "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and numerous films such as "Spider Man 2", "Star Trek: Nemesis", and "The Chronicles of Riddick".
In addition to designing such famous collectible weapons as the Indiana Jones Khyber Bowie for Lucas film and the Sword of Darkness for United Cutlery, Kit Rae has also created and supervised many licensed weapon replicas from films and television shows such as "Blade/Blade Trinity", "Hellboy", "Total Recall", "Mortal Kombat", "The Mask of Zorro", "Heroes", and over fifty products for "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy".
Kit is also the replica design supervisor for many weapons from the video gaming industry, such as the Frostmourne sword from World of Warcraft, the Red Queen sword from Devil May Cry, and the Blades of Chaos from God of War.
His own sword designs have also appeared in several video games!
