Musicians from across the GTA [Greater Toronto Area] and representing a variety of genres are looking forward to saying “Happy Anniversary” and “thanks for being you” to Randy Clark, owner of Renaissance CafĂ©, this Saturday, Aug. 25.

The club’s sixth anniversary is actually the night of Aug. 24, but the celebration takes place on the Saturday, starting with the regular weekly rootsy hootenanny from 2:30 till 6:30 and then moves into top gear that night as a score or more performers will participate in a gala concert.

I’ll be hosting (and will perform a couple of tunes) and several other stellar acts have already been confirmed, including: Brian Gladstone; Colleen Costello; Damon Hines; Fran McCann; Gerry Le Blanc; James Clark; John Layton; Liana DiMarco; Linda Saslove; MOesch; Neil Rhodes; Rob Minderman; Peter Verity; Tim Maxwell; Uncle Herb Dale; and Vanessa Hanson. Others who’ve said they’re likely to attend for at least a little while include Arthur Renwick, Ellen Carol, Michael Marian and Tracy Jones.

There’ll also be an open stage component to the show so that performers who have other gigs or who aren’t sure of their plans can just drop in and say hi and perhaps do a couple of tunes as well.

There’s no cover and this ought to be a party to remember for some time to come!
