STONY PLAIN ARTISTS NOMINATED
FOR INCLUSION IN FIRST ROUND
OF GRAMMY AWARD BALLOTING
Three artists on Stony Plain Records - Canada's longest-running roots music label - are included on the first ballot for the 2008 Grammy Awards. The top five nominees in each category will be announced on December 6, followed by the final round of voting.
For Maria Muldaur, in particular, a final nomination in the "Best Traditional Blues Album" category would amount to a hat-trick - her previous two albums for Stony Plain were nominated. In total, Stony Plain artists have appeared in the final nomination list four times in the last six years.
Members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) are eligible to vote.
The Stony Plain artists included in the first round of balloting are as follows:
World Full of Blues
Best Traditional Blues Album; Best Instrumental Arrangement for "Slim Jenkins Joint"
HARRY MANX AND KEVIN BREIT
In Good We Trust
Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album;
Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) for "I'm On Fire"
Naughty, Bawdy & Blue
Best Album Notes (for Maria Muldaur and Ron Harwood);
