JERU-4-TET

The music of Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker!

The sounds of this classic, groundbreaking quartet, which originated in a small Los Angeles restaurant called “the Haig” in 1952, and which launched both Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker onto the world stage, will be recreated at the Corktown!

Pol Coussée (baritone sax)
Brian O’Kane (trp)
Mark Dunn (bass)
Joel Haynes (drums)

Pol Coussée (baritone saxophone)

Born in Belgium and raised in France, baritone saxophonist Pol Coussée entered the music business as staff musician at the Casino de Monte-Carlo where he had the opportunity to work with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Shirley MacLaine, Liza Minnelli, and Jerry Lewis, among others. Moving to London, UK, he worked in the West-End theatre district playing shows including Bloodbrothers, Cats, West Side Story, Grease, Fame and Chicago. During this time he also toured the world with Barry White, and played with the Temptations, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Frankie Valli, the BBC Jazz Orchestra, and the London Jazz Orchestra, working with Cleo Laine & Johnny Dankworth.

After marrying a nice Canadian girl, he relocated to Canada in 2000. He currently plays with various jazz groups around the GTA, including those of Mike MacClennan, Gary Morgan, Hilario Duran, and Joaquim Hidalgo.

We’re thrilled to have this great group at the Corktown!
