CAROLE KING - MASTERPIECE VOL. 1
Yet another brilliant compilation (the first of three volumes on Carole King!) from A-Side.
As with other releases in the Songwriter Series, the track list combines better-known hits with obscure indie singles and B-sides. Surprises include Annette Funicello's girl-group ("Dreamin' About You"), The Crawford Brothers' Everly-esque "Good Buddies", and the Honey Bees' soulful "Some of Your Lovin'".
Some of these tracks subsequently turned up on other compilations (including Ace's Gerry Goffin & Carole King Song Collection 1961-1967), but there are plenty of unique rarities here and on the next two volumes.
