It's late January here in Maine - I like to think of it as Winter's 1/2 way mark. Normally, this is the coldest time of year with sub-zero temps and brutal winds, etc. But today we are having a lovely rain - a feign of Spring, and I am enjoying the feel....
As you may know already, I welcomed both a lovely son, Roosevelt Isley, and a new record, Invocation, into the world this past August '07. Roosevelt has taken most all of my focus, love and energy (happily and deservedly so!), but in between the diaper changes, and sometimes during naps, when I have laundry, cleaning, dishes and food all squared away, I can work a bit to promote the new album.
Invocation was an absolute labor of love but it tapped out all my resources. A majority of the promo for this record has relied upon word of mouth and has been positive but slow going. However, I have just received some very good news: the record has made some inroads, and there is now enthusiastic interest coming from 2 prominent national radio promoters who, on the strength of the record as a whole and, despite my being an independent artist on a small budget, want to work the album's first single this Spring in the AAA market with us.
We are so excited, as this is a crucial piece of the puzzle to bring the album into the world and to make it possible for myself and band to perform in regions outside the northeast US. This is the first time, in all my releases that I will have professional help with a radio publicity campaign.
This is an excellent opportunity - a window for tremendous artistic visibility on a national level. I know that a lot of you have been true blue fans throughout my career - often asking, 'why aren't you touring more & why don't we hear you on the radio?'. The answer is a complex equation of timing, funds and circumstance. Some of you have expressed your desire to help.
Perhaps this is the time I can call on you for your help. I need to spread the word about this album. If I can increase sales of this record, we can raise the funds needed (the radio promo campaign will cost roughly $3 - 4,500 initially). As soon as we launch this promotional campaign, we'll need to reach out to the 96 US station we will be pitching this spring (when we get the target list, I will let you know what station has the single in your area). It's going to take a lot of will and a bit of money, but I think we have a good formula and plan to build upon to help make this record successful!
What you can do:
If you haven't already, you can pick up a copy of the album:
The radio single is track #4: 'why'.
You can also purchase the album directly from me through my web site, kateschrock.com, and Amazon.com should have the record in their inventory soon.
If you have the album already, you can log in to the above CDBaby page and write a review! (there are a couple already, which you are welcome to take a look at).
Please spread the word to others by recommending this record.
Stay tuned for more news about the single arriving at a station near you.
After fits and starts as a renegade independent artist in a volatile and unforgiving industry, I am actually really excited again. For the first time in years, i am feeling new energy in the powers that be - in my own voice, artistically, and in the ears my music may fall upon.
Thank you to those who already have the record and to those who are spreading the word and giving your support!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart & I hope, for all of us, that Spring arrives for real very soon!!
