BARNEY BENTALL TO RELEASE THE INSIDE PASSAGE ON SEPT. 22

BARNEY BENTALL HITS THE ROAD AND RELEASES SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM

Toronto, ON - Growing up in the prairies and spending summers on the coast, Barney Bentall always felt a pull between these two places. This pull would later inspire Bentall to write his soon to be released album The Inside Passage (True North Records), which is loosely based on moving through life. The Inside Passage will be available in stores and online September 22, 2009.

The Inside Passage was written primarily in Calgary during the spring and summer 2008 then later recorded and produced by Johnny Ellis at his Nashcroft Studios. “I was touring at the time and there was a period of two weeks between shows. I could feel songs brewing from within “, explains Bentall. He enlisted in a stellar cast of musicians that were both brilliant players and friends. “The musicians all loved the place; we slept there and ate out of the garden. We would play and sing looking out at the ever changing desert hills”.

Bentall has released five studio albums which have all reached gold or platinum status in Canada. In 2007 after the release of Gift Horse (True North Records), Bentall began to tour with a variety of musicians as a way to help raise funds for residents in need, in the downtown eastside of Vancouver, thus calling themselves The Grand Caribou Opry.

This fall you can catch Bentall on stage with The Legendary Hearts, The Grand Caribou Opry and True North Concerts new series The Canadian Songbook, four of Canada's most acclaimed songwriters on one stage sharing songs and stories in a special intimate acoustic concert including Murray McLauchlan, Catherine MacLellan and Nathan Rogers.
