DENGUE FEVER/INARA GEORGE (THE BIRD AND THE BEE)

Dengue Fever/Inara George (The Bird and the Bee) digital single due in July

Hi All,

This summer Dengue Fever will not only return to Europe where they’ve taken off like a rocket within the past 18 months but they will also make their Hollywood Bowl debut, performing in a truly eclectic line up featuring theatrical pop group Of Montreal and pop dominatrix Grace Jones! And, now, the disco beat shimmers on Dengue Fever’s horizon like the summer heat with the digital-only release of “I Feel Love” with lead vocals from Inara George (The Bird and the Bee). Details below.

Dengue Fever has had an amazing ride in the past few months: the release of the the DVD/CD soundtrack release of their documentary film “Sleepwalking Through The Mekong”, performances at WOMADelaide in Australia and WOMAD in New Zealand, the world debut of a newly commissioned soundtrack for the 1925 silent film dinosaur epic “The Lost World” during a sold out, critically heralded performance at the San Francisco International Film Festival, and a new partnership with the environmental organization Wildlife Alliance, which protects Cambodian habitat and wildlife.

FROM DISCO FEVER TO DENGUE FEVER: INARA GEORGE COLLABORATION TURNS UP THE HEAT THIS SUMMER

Cambodian Rock Band Announces Release of Digital-Only EP Radio Dance Floor July 14 Featuring Donna Summer Classic “I Feel Love”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (Tuesday, June 9, 2009) – Los Angeles-based Cambodian rock band Dengue Fever (http://www.myspace.com/denguefevermusic) announced today the July 14 digital-only release of a four-track EP entitled Radio Dance Floor featuring a collaboration with the Bird and the Bee’s Inara George on lead vocals on the disco classic “I Feel Love” made famous by Donna Summer.

Radio Dance Floor transports Dengue Fever from their customary sound of psychedelic 60s Cambodia straight onto the late 70s New York Studio 54 dance floor, with the inclusion of the remix of “Clipped Wings” from Secret Circuit. Tracks to be released include:

“I Feel Love (Full Length)” 5:00,

“I Feel Love (Radio Edit)” 3:34,

“Clipped Wings Secret Circuit's Cosmic Clip Mixx” (Full Length)” 8:25,

“Clipped Wings Secret Circuit's Cosmic Clip Mixx” (Radio Edit)” 5:26.

”Inara George and I grew up together in Topanga Canyon, California and it's such a pleasure to finally get to collaborate together,” said Dengue Fever guitarist Zac Holtzman. “Recording a disco classic like Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” was the ideal situation to work with Inara and still keep the feel of Dengue Fever. There was absolutely no pressure, a ton of fun play something so iconic and we still were able to get our lead singer Chhom Nimol to sing backup, which made it even better.”

2009 just keeps getting busier and busier for Dengue Fever. Earlier this year, the band made their Australian and New Zealand debut at WOMADelade and WOMAD NZ, respectively. April saw the release of their long-awaited documentary Sleepwalking Through The Mekong on DVD and CD soundtrack from M80 Music. In May, they toured the Eastern US with Brooklyn-based psychedelic surf cumbia band Chicha Libre. A European festival tour is scheduled for June and runs into July. Then, upon their return from Europe, just two weeks after the release of Radio Dance Floor, Dengue Fever will be opening for disco icon Grace Jones at the venerable Hollywood Bowl.

Even while keeping this busy, Dengue Fever is generating a surprising amount of new music this year. The band recently announced an all-digital release of new material available exclusively via Bowers & Wilkins’ Society of Sound Music (http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/display.aspx?infid=777). Members may download over 40 minutes of newly recorded material from June 24 to July 24 only.

In the spirit of honoring the more traditional ways of presenting music, Dengue Fever celebrated Record Store Day in April with a limited edition (1000 units) split 7-inch vinyl record of a previously unreleased track “Genjer Genjer”. In May, they debuted a live, full-length soundtrack to the 1925 silent film dinosaur classic The Lost World at the San Francisco Film Festival. Later this year, there are plans for another split 7-inch vinyl with the Los Angeles-based band The Holloys on Slapshot Records. Dengue Fever and Secret Circut will again contribute The Echodelic Shockblast Revision of their track “Ethanopium” for an extremely limited edition pressing of 500. Fans can purchase music from Dengue Fever at their online store: http://denguefevermusic.com/store.
